The word Sunshine, be it in English or in Chinese, seems to be unusually popular in China, and particularly so at the Luohu area where I live. You need to use all your fingers to count all the hotels, homes, and sauna places etc where the word Sunshine is part of their names.

I have also just seen someone commenting that another person's comments in her response to an article here is "sunshine". The intended meaning of course is positive and complimentary, but since when does this word in Chinese have this unsual meaning, I wonder? And the number of people using "Sunshine" or "Sunshine something" as their online names in any online club or forum in China is simply overwhelming.

Sunshine is obviously valued highly in China. I guess it is mostly because it is relatively rare in most Chinese cities. If you go to the South East Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines etc,very few people there will care for sunshine at all. Too much sunlight, especially direct sunlight to the unprotected skin, is actually quite harmful, haha.
